Mrs Veronica Ferguson
Ophthalmology
About
In 1996, she was appointed Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, one of the UK’s leading academic health science centres, where she has contributed to both patient care and medical education.
Mrs Ferguson served as Surgeon Oculist to Queen Elizabeth II from 2018 until 2022, having previously held the role of Surgeon Oculist to the Royal Household from 2002.
Her clinical practice includes the assessment and management of a wide range of ophthalmic conditions. She sees patients with both urgent and routine concerns, including unexplained visual loss, double vision, optic nerve disorders, peripheral vision problems, strabismus (squint), and neurological eye conditions. She performed routine and complex cataract surgery until 2023. She now performs regular surgical procedures, with a particular focus on adult strabismus surgery, and provides botulinum toxin treatment under EMG guidance for eye muscle disorders, including double vision and squint.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
— Mrs Veronica Ferguson
