She has a specialist interest in photosensitivity (particularly Polymorphic Light Eruption), and Phototherapy. She consults privately at at the Beaumont Hospital (Bolton), Highfield Hospital (Rochdale), and Circle Cheshire Clinic (Northwich).

Dr. Ling graduated in Medicine from the Queens University of Belfast in 1992. She then completed her specialist dermatology training in Greater Manchester and was awarded a specialist training certificate in 2005. Following this, she was appointed as Consultant Dermatologist in the same year. In 2009, she was awarded an MD in Photodermatology from the University of Manchester.She was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in 2012.

Her key academic works include the main authorship of the National Guidelines for UVB, phototherapy and PUVA phototherapy.
