About
Dr Clayton specialises in the diagnosis and management of conditions affecting the skin, hair and nails in both adults and children. His practice covers a wide range of dermatological conditions, and he is recognised for his particular expertise in paediatric dermatology.
He studied Medicine at the University of Liverpool, graduating with an MB ChB in 1995. During his medical training he undertook dermatology and surgical electives abroad, including dermatology work at a polyclinic in Bulgaria and a general surgery attachment in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. After graduation, he completed general medical training at Manchester Royal Infirmary and later undertook general professional training in Paediatrics at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, completing this in 2000.
Dr Clayton subsequently completed Higher Professional Training in Dermatology at the Leeds Centre for Dermatology. During this time he received advanced training in dermatological surgery. Leeds General Infirmary is internationally recognised as a centre of excellence for the treatment of acne and rosacea, providing him with valuable specialist experience in these conditions.
He is listed on the General Medical Council’s specialist register for dermatology and holds several professional memberships. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh), a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, and a member of the British Association of Dermatologists, the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, and the British Society for Cutaneous Allergy. He also serves on the executive board of the British Society for Paediatric Dermatology.
Dr Clayton’s expertise has been widely recognised, and he was named among The Times’ Top 100 Children’s Doctors, one of only three dermatologists in the UK to receive this distinction.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
