Dr Scott Murray
Cardiology
About
Dr Murray graduated with First Class Honours in Sports and Exercise Medicine from the University of Glasgow in 1999, followed by a medical degree (MBChB) in 2001. He went on to train in general and interventional cardiology in Liverpool, specialising in intravascular plaque imaging techniques. His early research on genetic markers and heart muscle changes in professional footballers earned him international recognition. He then completed further research towards a clinical MD at the University of Liverpool, focusing on vulnerable coronary plaque imaging using advanced techniques like IVUS and cardiac CT.
Now focused on prevention, Dr Murray is passionate about early detection and risk reduction, guiding patients through lifestyle, metabolic, and imaging strategies to avoid heart attacks. He is past-president of the British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR) and has played key roles in local NHS transformation projects. He is a visiting Professor at Edinburgh Napier University, School for Cardiovascular Health. He has been the Founder, Medical Director and CQC registered manager for Venturi since its inception.
Outside of work, he lives on the Wirral with his wife and three sons. He enjoys playing golf and music when time will allow (not so much these days!)
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
