Dr Rohan Jagathesan is an experienced Consultant Cardiologist specialising in general cardiology, coronary artery disease and coronary intervention. He has particular expertise in complex angioplasty and stent procedures performed via the radial (wrist) approach, offering patients a safer, less invasive and more comfortable experience. He consults adults aged 18 and over.
Dr Jagathesan graduated from Guy’s Hospital Medical School in 1993 and went on to complete specialist cardiology training across several leading London teaching hospitals. His academic development included a period of research as an MRC Fellow at Imperial College London, where he focused on coronary physiology and cardiac stress testing.
He was appointed Consultant Cardiologist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow, and at Barts and The London in 2005, later joining The Essex Cardiothoracic Centre in 2007 as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist. Over the course of his career, he has developed a strong reputation for his skill in managing complex coronary disease and delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care.
Dr Jagathesan also plays a significant role in regional clinical leadership. He currently serves as Medical Director for Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Renal and Critical Care at Mid and South Essex NHS Trust. He is the Essex Cardiac Lead for the East of England Strategic Clinical Network and acts as Clinical Governance Lead at Ramsay Rivers Hospital.
