About Dr Ricky Sachdev
Dr Sachdev is a Consultant Psychiatrist for the Complex Depression, Anxiety and Trauma Service (CDAT) at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust and he is also a Consultant Psychiatrist in the Adult ADHD team in the same Trust. Having qualified from University College London in 2011 with a merit in clinical neurosciences, Dr Sachdev pursued a career in Psychiatry and completed his core training at Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and postgraduate training at Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust. During his training, he also obtained an MSc in Psychiatric practice (awarded distinction) and was a winner of a university prize from the University of Hertfordshire. From his work at the National Highly Specialised OCD/BDD treatment service, he developed an interest in research and specialised treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder and related disorders and has participated in research trials and authored publications for health professionals on the practical management of OCD. He currently heads the CDAT OCD treatment pathway at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust and is responsible for treating individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder (and related disorders such as body dysmorphic disorder) who are either severely symptomatic or resistant to first-line treatments. Another clinical interest of Dr Sachdev is Adult ADHD. As a consultant psychiatrist working at the Adult ADHD service at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust, he is experienced at performing an in-depth diagnostic assessment of the condition using clinically validated diagnostic tools and initiating and monitoring treatments which are evidenced in the management of ADHD. Dr Sachdev's training to date has afforded him with expertise in wide-ranging areas of adult psychiatry including OCD, ADHD, depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder and psychosis. As a consultant psychiatrist working at the Complex Depression, Anxiety and Trauma Service (CDAT), he is particularly experienced at performing comprehensive reviews of individuals with severe and complex mental health conditions and is skilled in formulating holistic individualised treatment plans using targeted evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Dr Sachdev's work with CDAT has also enabled him to gain experience in the field of neurostimulation; an exciting novel treatment modality which shows promise in the treatment of a range of mental health conditions. Dr Sachdev has been trained to deliver transcranial magnetic stimulation and is currently participating in research investigating the role of neurostimulation therapies in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder and major depressive disorder. Alongside his academic and clinical activities, Dr Sachdev has a passion for teaching and currently teaches medical students at University College London (UCL).
