About Dr Peter O'Callaghan
At Spire Cardiff Hospital I provide a comprehensive heart rhythm service including the investigation and management of patients with palpitations, blackouts and cardiac arrest survivors or their family members. I am an expert in the management of atrial fibrillation, Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome, supraventricular tachycardias (SVTs), the ablation of tachycardias and the implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators. I am the lead clinician for heart rhythm and pacing services at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, providing tertiary referral services for South East Wales, a referral population of 1.3 million. Prior to my consultant appointment in 2001 I trained at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston and St George's Hospital, London having entered the speciality of electrophysiology in 1994. My main interests lie in managing tachycardias and implantation of devices to prevent blackouts or sudden death (pacemakers and defibrillators).
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
