Dr Meera Tewani

Dr. Meera Tewani is a highly experienced anaesthetist and pain management specialist with a career spanning over 22 years. She completed her higher training in Anaesthetics and subsequently pursued a Fellowship in Pain Management in the West Midlands. During her training, Dr. Tewani honed her skills as a Clinical Research Fellow across several prominent hospitals including Birmingham Heartlands, Solihull, Good Hope, Russell Hall Hospitals, as well as at Marie Curie and St Giles Hospices. In December 2009, Dr. Tewani was appointed to Warwick Hospital, where she dedicated herself to chronic pain management for five years. Utilising advanced audit methodologies such as the Pain Audit Collection System software, along with conducting her own audits, Dr. Tewani consistently achieved positive outcomes for her patients. Driven by her passion for advancing pain management services, Dr. Tewani moved to Heart of England NHS Trust in December 2014. Here, she focused on developing the Pelvic Pain services and expanded her expertise in managing complicated skin conditions through specialist Pain Clinics across Birmingham. Dr. Tewani holds a prominent role as a Council Member of the British Association of Musculoskeletal Medicine, where she actively contributes by teaching in their educational road-shows. She is also recognised for her national-level course on examination skills tailored for Pain Specialists. Her comprehensive approach to pain management includes a wide array of interventional procedures such as facet joint injections, lumbar sympathetic blocks, sacroiliac joint injections, epidurals, nerve blocks, and trigger point injections. Dr. Tewani specialises in treating various conditions including neck pain, nerve entrapment pain, neuropathic pain, and persistent pain post-surgery. She has a particular interest in neuromodulation techniques, including radiofrequency denervation of cervical, thoracic, and lumbar facets, sacroiliac joints, as well as pulsed radiofrequency treatment of peripheral nerves.
