About

London-based Consultant Dermatologist, Dr Helene Menagé has a wealth of expertise and a wide range of dermatological interests from photodermatology, sun allergies and skin cancer, to general dermatology complaints such as eczema, acne, and psoriasis.

Dr Menagé graduated from Guys' Hospital with an intercalated BSc in Psychology before training in general medicine for four years at a number of London hospitals as well as on the St Thomas' medical registrar rotation. She then undertook specialised training in Dermatology at St John's Institute where she spent time in photodermatology research. In 1997, Dr Menagé was appointed general consultant dermatologist at Lewisham Hospital and photodermatologist at St John's Institute (Guys and St Thomas' Hospitals).

Dr Menagé is involved in research and has published many academic papers, book chapters, and clinical case reports. She has also contributed to guidelines for the British Association of Dermatologists and helped to produce consensus statements with the British Photodermatology Group and NHS Choices. Dr Menagé served as the secretary/treasurer of the British Photodermatology Group and as the Clinical Editor of Current Medical Literature: Dermatology. She is a former president of the Royal Society of Medicine's dermatology section and a previous president of St John's Dermatological Society. She is a Royal Society of Medicine trustee.

Dr Menagé is dedicated to professional development and education and teaches medical students and dermatological trainees. She has previously been an examiner for the MSc in Clinical Dermatology at KCL and led the integration of medical student teaching into Lewisham dermatology.
