About Dr Eileen Baildam
Dr Eileen Baildam became a Consultant at Manchester Children's Hospitals in 1993. In 2006, she moved posts to be a Consultant Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatologist in the Clinical and Academic Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology Unit at Alder Hey Children's Hospital. She worked there until 2019. She is now in full time private clinical practise. In addition, Eileen still is involved with clinical research with long-term national studies in juvenile arthritis, systemic lupus erythematous, juvenile dermatomyositis, juvenile scleroderma, as well as the UK biologic registry studies. She has just completed a prestigious study with The Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Programme of the National Institute of Health Research in the NHS. She is also involved with an ongoing study at Liverpool University on the function of stem cells in juvenile arthritis. Dr Baildam's research is widely cited in rheumatology literature, and she is currently involved in eight active studies. Dr Eileen Baildam is an esteemed paediatric and adolescent rheumatologist with over 25 years of consultant-grade experience. Based at the BMI Alexandra Hospital in Manchester, Dr Baildam sees children and teenagers with a range of conditions including juvenile idiopathic arthritis, schleroderma, systemic lupus, hypermobility, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, and juvenile vasculitis. Dr Baildam is also a member of the MHRA Paediatric Medicines Committee Expert Advisory Group. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Baildam is heavily involved in charity work and is the Chair of Trustees for Claire House, a children's hospice based in Wirral which has just been awarded an Outstanding Status by the Care Quality Commission. She runs a medico-legal practice and sees patients for assessments at the Alexandra Hospital if required.
