About Dr Arun Kurup
Dr. Arun Kurup is based at North Staffordshire Hospital, where he sees patients with a range of conditions. Dr. Kurup's specialized interests encompass colorectal polyp endoscopy, small bowel enteroscopy, dyspepsia, and inflammatory bowel disease. Alongside his role at North Staffordshire Hospital, Dr. Kurup has served as a consultant gastroenterologist with the North Midlands University Hospitals since 2016, where he spearheaded the implementation of colon capsule as part of the capsule endoscopy program. Dr. Kurup also serves as the Inflammatory Bowel Disease lead and Small Bowel Service lead, with outpatient clinics at the Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital. Dr. Kurup's academic achievements include his MBBS from the University of Kerala, which he earned in 2000. After completing his specialty training in gastroenterology and general medicine, Dr. Kurup embarked on a year-long fellowship at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth. During his fellowship, he developed an expertise in advanced endoscopy techniques, particularly in the endoscopic management of complex colorectal polyps. Dr. Kurup is an ardent researcher with a keen interest in non-invasive bowel screening using capsule endoscopy and colon cancer in young adults. In his leisure time, Dr. Kurup indulges in his passion for cooking, travelling, and playing cricket and badminton.
