About Dr Andrew Porter
Dr Andrew Porter is a Consultant Rheumatologist with an NHS practice at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, where he provides comprehensive general rheumatology care and co-leads the specialist large vessel vasculitis clinic at Hammersmith Hospital. He treats patients with a wide range of inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, with particular expertise in complex, multisystem disease. Dr Porter completed his medical training at the University of Cambridge and University College London, graduating with distinction and being awarded an MA in Physiology, Development and Neuroscience. During his undergraduate and postgraduate training he received several awards, including the Barbara Ansell Prize in Rheumatology, and has since worked across leading centres in North-West London, developing broad experience in the diagnosis and management of rheumatological disease. In 2020, he was awarded a prestigious Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellowship and completed a PhD at Imperial College London, focusing on the molecular pathogenesis of vasculitis. He has an established academic profile with multiple peer-reviewed publications in vasculitis and inflammatory disease and is a regular invited speaker at national and international meetings. Dr Porter is known for his compassionate, patient-centred and holistic approach to care. Alongside his clinical work, he is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and currently serves as the Rheumatology Training Lead at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
