Dr Deborah Mukherji is a leading Consultant Medical Oncologist at Clemenceau Medical Center Hospital Dubai with over 12 years of experience. She completed her medical degree at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London, UK, in 2002 and completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Oncology from the Institute of Cancer Research, University of London in 2011. She was also awarded her Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Medical Oncology by the General Medical Council (UK) in 2011. Dr Mukherji's expertise extends to clinical research and drug development, particularly in prostate cancer, demonstrated during her time at the Royal Marsden Hospital London, UK
In 2015, she received a postgraduate diploma in Global Clinical Research from Harvard Medical School, supported by a scholarship from the Dubai-Harvard Foundation. She became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians UK in 2016. Since then, Dr Mukherji has become renowned for her clinical excellence and academic contributions, earning her a status as one of the best medical oncologists in Dubai.
As a Faculty Member at the American University of Beirut since 2012, Dr Mukherji is actively engaged in patient care, clinical research, and medical education. She co-chairs the Advanced Prostate Cancer Consensus Conference Middle East Satellite Meeting and has published consensus recommendations for the region in the World Journal of Urology.
Her involvement with organisations includes being part of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) Faculty for prostate cancer and serving on the scientific committee for the ESMO World Congress on Gastrointestinal Cancer. Dr Mukherji is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and has delivered educational lectures at their annual meetings.
As an advocate for Women in Oncology, Dr Mukherji addresses gender equity issues for ASCO Connection and co-authored the first report on female oncologists in the MENA region with colleagues from the Arab Medical Association Against Cancer (AMAAC). Recently appointed as a commissioner for the Lancet Commission for Women and Cancer, she investigates the intersection between gender and cancer care, research, and leadership. Her contributions earned her the Women in Oncology Award MENA 2021 from the Emirates Oncology Society.
