Mr. David Bartlett is a highly experienced Consultant Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic, and Liver Transplant Surgeon based at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.

Mr Bartlett graduated from the University of Bristol in 2001 following which he completed Basic Surgical Training at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, before moving to the West Midlands to undertake Higher/Specialist Surgical Training during which he was awarded a MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship and was completed a PhD from the University of Birmingham.  On completion of Higher Surgical Training he undertook Fellowships at Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham, and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham before being appointed as Consultant in 2019.

With years of experience, Mr Bartlett has gained substantial expertise in performing both open and laparoscopic procedures for various benign and malignant liver, biliary, and pancreatic conditions, as well liver transplantation.  Throughout his career, Mr. Bartlett has developed a special interest in complex surgical cases, particularly in surgery for hilar cholangiocarcinoma and pancreatic cancer, which may involve vascular resection. Additionally, he has expertise in machine perfusion of donor liver grafts, contributing to advancements in transplantation techniques.

Mr Bartlett has extensive research experience and multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals in the field of hepatobiliary surgery and liver transplantation.
