About

Dr Clint Maart is a Consultant Interventional and General Cardiologist with experience in the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular conditions. He works as a consultant at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and also sees private patients at Spire Norwich Hospital.

His clinical practice focuses on the investigation and treatment of coronary artery disease, including the assessment of chest pain and the use of interventional procedures such as coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention (angioplasty). He also manages a range of general cardiology conditions, including palpitations, hypertension, heart failure and breathlessness.

Dr Maart has experience in complex interventional cardiology procedures, including the treatment of multi-vessel coronary disease, chronic total occlusions and calcified lesions, using advanced imaging techniques such as intravascular ultrasound and optical coherence tomography. He performs a high volume of coronary interventions annually, including participation in emergency treatment pathways for heart attacks.

He is also actively involved in clinical research and education. He has acted as a principal investigator in international multicentre trials focusing on coronary intervention and outcomes, and contributes to training and education within cardiology, including regional interventional training programmes.

Dr Maart completed his medical degree with first class honours at the University of Cape Town in 2002. He subsequently undertook postgraduate training in the UK, achieving membership of the Royal College of Physicians. He was awarded a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Leeds for research into coronary artery revascularisation and later completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of East Anglia.

He also runs a private cardiology service at Norfolk Heart Clinic, where he provides assessment and follow-up care for a range of cardiac conditions.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
