Dr Clàudia Aymerich is an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Researcher providing comprehensive, evidence-based psychiatric care for children, adolescents and adults. Her areas of expertise include ADHD across the lifespan, autism spectrum disorders, early psychosis, mood and anxiety disorders, and complex neurodevelopmental presentations.
She completed her medical training at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Pompeu Fabra University, followed by specialist psychiatry training at Hospital Universitario Basurto in Bilbao, one of Spain’s leading psychiatry centres. She later earned a PhD in Neurosciences from the University of the Basque Country, awarded the highest distinction (cum laude), focusing on early intervention and preventive approaches in severe mental illness. She also holds an MSc in Addictive Disorders from the University of Barcelona.
Dr Aymerich has received several prestigious international awards, including the Alicia Koplowitz Fellowship for advanced training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at King’s College London, the Japanese Society of Psychiatry Award, and the Emerging Investigator Award from the Spanish Society of Psychiatry and Mental Health. She was also awarded the Post-MIR Scholarship by the Biobizkaia Health Research Institute, enabling her to combine clinical practice with research in the prevention and treatment of psychotic disorders.
She currently works as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), King’s College London, and as an Honorary Clinical Fellow in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr Aymerich has extensive experience in urgent psychiatric care and early detection and intervention services. She has completed certified training in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) and the Comprehensive Assessment of At-Risk Mental States (CAARMS). She is actively involved in international research networks and has published over 20 peer-reviewed academic papers, contributing to systematic reviews and meta-analyses in child and adolescent psychiatry, including work intersecting with oncology. She also serves as a peer reviewer for international scientific journals.
