About Ms Chloe Scott
Professor Chloe Scott is a highly respected Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in knee and hip surgery. Her primary focus areas include partial knee replacement, complex knee replacement surgery (including revision procedures), and hip replacement surgery. She completed her medical degree at the University of Edinburgh in 2004, and later completed her orthopaedic surgery training also in Edinburgh. To further enhance her knowledge and skills, Prof. Scott embarked on travelling fellowships to internationally renowned institutions, such as the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Cartilage Repair Centre in Boston. In 2017 she was appointment as a consultant at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in 2017 Within her comprehensive practice, Prof. Scott manages a diverse range of cases. She provides expert care to patients dealing with hip and knee arthritis, offering various treatments and surgical interventions to improve their overall quality of life. Her NHS practice extends to patients with complex lower limb injuries and fractures around joint replacements. Prof. Scott is well-versed in both manual and robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery, embracing modern techniques to achieve optimal outcomes for her patients. She has a particular enthusiasm for the advantages of partial knee replacement. Beyond her clinical practice, Prof. Scott is a distinguished researcher and is Editor-in-Chief of the Bone and Joint Research journal having previously been an NHS Research Scotland clinician. Having earned an MD from the University of Edinburgh on the engineering of partial knee replacements, she is now an Honorary Professor in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London where she is involved in the development of new partial knee replacement implants. Her research efforts are centred on enhancing the outcomes of joint replacement surgery and optimising implant designs. She is regularly invited to share her research and surgical expertise at both national and international conferences. Her significant contributions to the field have garnered national recognition, including the prestigious Hunter-Doig medal for excellence in surgery, presented by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2020. She is included in the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh portrait "Eleven Surgeons" which was added to their collection in 2025 and depistc all 9 previosu winners of the Hunter-Doig medal.
