About Dr Bryan Murphy
Dr Bryan Murphy is a specialist consultant Dermatologist based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He sees private paying and insured patients with skin problems at Cathedral Dermatology Clinic in Belfast in Belfast. He also consults for patients referred from Check4Cancer and provides teledermatology services for MySkinDoctor. Having graduated from Medicine at Queen's University Belfast, Dr Murphy completed postgraduate core medical training and Dermatology specialist registrar training in Northern Ireland. In 2024, he sought to expand his professional repertoire and completed training in Cosmetic Dermatology at the esteemed Harley Academy in London. For several years he worked as a consultant Dermatologist at Belfast City Hospital where he ran both general inflammatory and suspect cancer clinics, participated in teledermatology services, and oversaw and lead a joint consultant and nurse-led genital skin service, before transitioning to the independent sector. He is happy to see patients aged 18 and older, offering expert assessment for all general skin concerns including: • Rashes (including eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, acne, sweating and other inflammatory skin/scalp conditions), • Contact allergy requiring patch testing • Female genital skin problems including lichen sclerosus, pigmentation and lesions • Male genital skin problems such as balanitis, lichen sclerosus and lesions • Benign lesions, moles and mole screening, cysts, tags, lipomas and 'lumps and bumps' on your skin • Skin cancers and suspect skin cancers including melanoma, basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and other skin tumours • Cosmetic dermatology concerns including skin ageing, hyperpigmentation and melasma, acne scarring and photodamage (due to excessive sun exposure) Dr Murphy regularly performs a variety of dermatological surgeries, which can be discussed and planned for at consultation if indicated. These include cryotherapy, skin biopsy, curettage, shave and excision. With a passion for promoting skin cancer prevention, he previously sat on the Northern Ireland Skin Cancer Prevention Strategy Group with Cancer Focus NI, and is a past Multidisciplinary Team Improvement Lead and Chair of the Northern Ireland Regional Skin Cancer MDT Meeting. He always strives to educate and empower his patients in managing and understanding their diagnosis. He has authored/co-authored several peer-reviewed articles in the medical literature. Dr Murphy sits on the Guidelines and Therapeutics Subcommittee for the British Association of Dermatologists. Dr Murphy also has experience in chairing medical meetings and providing educational talks and lectures on various aspects of dermatology.
