About Dr Ashley Spencer
Dr Ashley Spencer is a consultant dermatologist at The Devonshire Clinic and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. She specialises in general dermatology, inflammatory skin disease (e.g. eczema, psoriasis, acne), skin lesion (diagnosis and removal), skin cancer, and skin conditions as a result of connective tissue disease (such as lupus). In her NHS role at Hammersmith Hospital, Dr Spencer runs a lupus clinic, working alongside her colleagues in rheumatology and renal. Dr Spencer gained her medical degree from the University of Birmingham in 2012, graduating with honours, in the top 5% of her cohort. She also achieved several prizes and multiple distinctions. Following this, she trained at a number of centres in Birmingham including the Birmingham Skin Centre. Dr Spencer achieved the highest mark nationally for the entrance exam into specialist dermatology training and was offered a place on the North London Dermatology Training Programme. Dr Spencer has a passion for research and has conducted research into contact allergy, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, and histiocytosis. She has achieved awards for her work and has presented nationally and internationally. Currently, she is undertaking an MD(Res) looking at the microbiome and its role in female genital lichen sclerosis.
