About Dr Asad Khan

Dr Asad Khan is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Milton Keynes Hospital with over 15 years of experience in the NHS and a strong background in general and internal medicine. He began his medical career in Pakistan, training as a Consultant Physician before completing post-fellowship gastroenterology training at a tertiary care institute between 2007 and 2010. He joined the NHS in 2010 and has since developed extensive expertise in gastroenterology and endoscopy.

Dr Khan manages a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, including gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, Barrett’s oesophagus, coeliac disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), chronic diarrhoea, constipation, abdominal pain, bloating, fatty liver, and Helicobacter pylori infection. He is particularly skilled in patient-centred, comfort-focused endoscopy, ensuring a safe and positive experience for his patients.

He is one of the few advanced therapeutic endoscopists in the region, with expertise in complex polypectomy (EMR), stricture dilatation, GI bleed management, chromoendoscopy, Barrett’s surveillance gastroscopy, and foreign body removal. He also performs diagnostic procedures such as colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and gastroscopy.

Dr Khan leads the Capsule Sponge service for Barrett’s oesophagus screening as part of the Cytoprime 2 trial. He is JAG-accredited in colonoscopy, an educational supervisor, and actively involved in mentoring trainees and quality improvement initiatives.
