Dr Aravindhan Sundaramurthy specialises in genitourinary cancers. He offers a range of treatments, including systemic anti-cancer therapy, which encompasses chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted oral therapies, and novel anti-hormonal agents. Additionally, Dr Sundaramurthy provides radiation therapy for cancers of the genitourinary system.
Dr Sundaramurthy's training included a clinical research fellowship at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and University of Toronto. Through this fellowship, Dr Sundaramurthy furthered their sub-specialisation in genitourinary malignancies, focusing on prostate radiotherapy and brachytherapy.
Dr Sundaramurthy was recognised for their work in the field, receiving the CARO-ACURA grant in 2017. This grant was awarded for a focal dose escalation study in prostate cancer. The study employed MRI-guided HDR-brachytherapy to target the tumour while administering SBRT to the entire gland.
Dr Sundaramurthy is a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Radiologists. He is the lead for radiotherapy services at the Edinburgh cancer centre. He also leads the Uro-Oncology trials team (team 4) at the ECC.
