Mr Andrew Scott

Mr Andrew Scott is a skilled Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with a wealth of expertise in the field of ophthalmology. His primary areas of specialisation are cataract surgery and glaucoma management. Mr Scott's qualifications include a Doctor of Medicine & Surgery (MD) degree, Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists London (FRCOphth), and membership in prestigious organisations like the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCSEd), the European Glaucoma Society (EGS), the European Society of Ophthalmology (SOE), and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). He is also a member of the Association for Research in Vision & Ophthalmology (ARVO). Currently, Mr. Scott serves as a full-time Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the esteemed Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in London. He holds the position of Glaucoma Service Lead at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Bedford and plays a vital role as the Guardian of Safe Working within the same organisation. Mr. Scott has undergone extensive training and specialisation in complex glaucoma and cataract management, including a 3 year advanced specialisation at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. He holds a Certificate of Completion of Training in Ophthalmology from the North Thames London Deanery, largely based at Moorfields Eye Hospital. His commitment to research is evident through his extensive research experience and numerous awards. Mr Scott's research interests include the diagnosis and surgical management of glaucoma and cataracts, with a focus on minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), trabeculectomy procedures, glaucoma drainage implants (tubes), and clear lens extractions for angle closure glaucoma. His academic contributions include lecturing and examining at UCL and City University London, as well as delivering over 80 national and international presentations and instruction courses. Dr. Scott's remarkable achievements have earned him awards such as the European Society of Ophthalmology award for best research paper in 2007 and an Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2018.
