Mr. Anand Ramakrishnan is a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive, and Craniofacial Surgeon with over two decades of experience in plastic surgery of the face and body, as well as for head and neck cancer. He is also the Director of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he also sees private patients, in addition to The Alfred and Frances Perry Hospitals and St. Vincent's Private Hospital.
Mr. Ramakrishnan earned his Bachelor's degree in medicine at the University of Melbourne in 1996, after which he undertook and completed his basic and specialist plastic surgery training. He then gained a fellowship in paediatric craniofacial surgery at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, and the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto. Upon completion of this fellowship, he completed another fellowship in Microsurgery at St. Vincent's Hospital, within the Benard O'Brien Institute of Microsurgery. During this time, Mr. Ramakrishnan also worked towards his Doctorate degree in stem cell biology at the University of Melbourne, and also his Master's degree in Public Health at Monash University.
Since consulting, Mr. Ramakrishnan has also regularly partaken in the training of undergraduate medical students, junior medical staff, and plastic surgeons in training. He is also a member of the Surgical Committee of Interplast, a charitable association responsible for pro-bono plastic surgery within Asia and the Pacific.
