Dr. Amer Saleem graduated from the University of Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan in 2002. After completing an internship, he underwent structured training in general internal medicine and then respiratory medicine (pulmonology). After completing his training and qualifications he moved to UK for further experience. His main interests are interventional bronchoscopy, lung cancer, lung nodules, TB, sarcoidosis, pleural ultrasound and COPD.
Dr. Saleem's first appointment in the NHS as respiratory consultant was at Bedford Hospital in 2014. He had an honorary contract at UCLH and gained interventional bronchoscopy experience from there. He played a crucial role in developing EBUS service at Bedford Hospital in 2018.
Dr. Saleem joined Milton Keynes University Hospital as consultant respiratory physician in 2018. In addition to departmental governance lead and an appraiser, he is an educational supervisor for University of Buckingham medical students, foundation year doctors and respiratory trainees (from Oxford Deanery). He is also Royal College Regional Advisor for Physicians (RCPSG), and Royal College Examiner for PACES.
Dr. Amer Saleem has published various articles in the field of respiratory medicine and has also participated in research trials.
