Dr. Amal Aburawi is a highly experienced Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist, with specialist training and practice in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom. She earned her Fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FRANZCOG) and has since built extensive expertise in managing both high- and low-risk pregnancies. She is a strong advocate for natural vaginal birth, while also being highly skilled in all other delivery interventions, including instrumental deliveries with forceps or vacuum, as well as simple and complex Caesarean sections.
Her approach to women’s health is holistic, supporting patients through all stages of life. She has broad expertise across obstetrics and gynecology, including the management of pregnancy complications such as diabetes in pregnancy, premature birth, twin pregnancy, breech delivery, and postpartum care. In gynecology, she manages conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids, polycystic ovarian syndrome, menstrual disorders, pelvic and urogenital infections, cervical disease, and postmenopausal disorders. She also provides care for recurrent miscarriages, early pregnancy complications including ectopic pregnancy, and offers contraception and family planning counseling.
Dr. Aburawi is trained in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole), vaginal, and abdominal procedures, including hysterectomy, management of benign ovarian masses, and treatment of gynecological emergencies. She also addresses urogynecological issues such as vaginal prolapse and urinary incontinence, as well as complex conditions like dyspareunia.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr. Aburawi has expanded her expertise through additional qualifications, holding a Diploma in Aesthetic Gynecology (Dubai, 2020), a Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynecology (England), and a Diploma from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health (England, DFSRH). She originally graduated in medicine from Tripoli University, Libya, in 1993 with an MBBCh.
