About Miss Alison Carter
Miss Alison Carter is a consultant ENT surgeon with a special interest in paediatric ENT, having completed her fellowship at the globally renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. She works as an NHS consultant at the Royal National ENT Hospital and University College London Hospital (UCLH), where she maintains an exclusive paediatric practice. In addition, she is the ENT consultant responsible for the assessment and surgical division of neonatal and infant tongue tie (ankyloglossia) at UCLH, working closely with the infant feeding and neonatal teams. Academically Miss Carter has presented both in the UK and internationally. She has over 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals, is an author of a widely used ENT textbook, and has received several surgical awards. Beyond her clinical work, she is actively engaged in medical education, enthusiastically working with students and allied health professionals to enhance their knowledge of ENT. Her clinical expertise covers a broad range of paediatric ENT conditions and their management, both surgical and non-surgical. This includes tonsil and adenoid issues, tonsillitis, obstructive sleep apnoea, tongue tie and feeding issues, nasal blockage, hearing problems, recurrent ear infections, rhinitis, allergies, neck lumps, voice disorders, and airway and laryngeal problems. As both a consultant paediatric ENT surgeon and as a parent, she understands the concerns families face when considering treatment options, and is committed to providing the highest standard of care, ensuring that each young patient receives personalised, evidence-based treatment.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
