Dr. Ali Abbara is an Honorary Consultant in Reproductive Endocrinology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, a position he has held since 2017. He conducts patient-centred research in reproductive endocrinology, supported by a National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Clinician Scientist Award at Imperial College London. Dr. Abbara graduated with honours from St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Medical School in 2004.

In addition to his clinical training in Endocrinology and General Medicine, he has been awarded several prestigious fellowships and grants from the NIHR, the Medical Research Council (MRC), and the Wellcome Trust. He completed his PhD in reproductive endocrinology at Imperial College London in 2014, supported by a Wellcome Trust Clinical Training Fellowship. Dr. Abbara has presented his work at numerous international conferences and has been honoured with over twenty postgraduate prizes.

His research focuses on the evaluation of reproductive disorders, including the diagnosis of menstrual disturbances associated with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), functional hypothalamic amenorrhoea, hyperprolactinaemia, androgen excess, obesity-related reproductive disorders, anovulatory disorders, in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment, and hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism. With more than one hundred peer-reviewed academic articles published in high-impact journals such as The Lancet, Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology, the Journal of Clinical Investigation, and Nature Reviews Endocrinology, Dr. Abbara is a leading expert in his field.
