About

Mr. Alex Gibson is a registered mental health nurse and an accredited cognitive and behavioural therapist (CBT) with a specialisation in depression, trauma, anxiety, PTSD, and CPTSD. With a compassionate and supportive approach, he values building therapeutic relationships based on care and empathy.

In collaboration with his clients, Mr Gibson directly addresses problems and works to disrupt negative self-talk and unhelpful coping mechanisms that contribute to feelings of anxiety and low mood. Drawing from his own lived experience with anxiety and neurodiversity, he brings empathy and understanding to his practice.

Mr Gibson's nursing training took place at the Royal Defence Medical College, and he holds postgraduate qualifications from York and Teesside Universities. Over the course of his 25-year career, he has worked in various mental health settings, including the Royal Navy, private healthcare, charities, and the National Health Service.

Having previously managed a large talking therapy service recognised for its innovations in equality and diversity in mental health, he has also worked with organisations that received awards for outstanding health initiatives related to occupational mental health support. His areas of expertise include Complex and Acute PTSD, as well as other trauma-related reactions such as OCD, generalised anxiety, and depression. He has received extensive training in Trauma Focused CBT and narrative exposure therapy (NET).

Mr Gibson has a particular passion for occupational mental health and has provided support to military veterans, blue light workers, the UK media industry, and blue-chip companies across the country. In his leisure time, he enjoys walking his Wire-Haired Dachshunds and has set a personal goal of exploring every Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the UK. Inspired by his deep appreciation for nature, Mr Gibson also offers walking therapy, which has proven beneficial for some of his clients.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
