His clinical work spans diagnostic radiology and a wide range of interventional procedures. He has particular expertise in embolisation therapy, including uterine fibroid, prostate artery, and musculoskeletal embolisation. He is currently performing geniculate artery embolisation as part of the Genesis II trial, the first UK randomised controlled trial investigating knee embolisation for osteoarthritis.
Alongside this, Dr. Al-Rekabi has extensive experience in treating peripheral vascular disease, deep venous disease, and interventional oncology, including CT-guided ablation. He also has a specialist interest in cardiovascular imaging, focusing on coronary artery disease assessment and CT planning for transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI).
Before joining the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, Dr. Al-Rekabi worked as a radiologist at University Hospital Southampton.
