About Dr Adam Daniel Lewis
Mr Adam Daniel Lewis is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon providing a comprehensive service in general adult ophthalmology, with a particular focus on cataract extraction. His private practice is dedicated exclusively to adult patients. Mr Lewis was appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline, in 2020. He specialises in adult small-incision cataract surgery using phacoemulsification techniques and also leads the paediatric ophthalmology service within NHS Fife. He graduated in medicine from the University of Edinburgh in 2010 and was awarded a competitive scholarship to undertake an Erasmus programme at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. His postgraduate medical and surgical training was completed in London at University College London Hospital (UCLH) and in Edinburgh at the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion, before taking up his consultant role in NHS Fife. Mr Lewis has contributed to the academic field of ophthalmology through publications in peer-reviewed journals, including Eye (the journal of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists), and by authoring chapters in recognised ophthalmology textbooks such as Fundamentals in Ophthalmic Practice. He has a strong commitment to education and has served as an Honorary Lecturer at the University of St Andrews since 2020, actively supporting the training of future doctors.
