Patients can book appointments on any day from Monday to Friday and can expect to receive one-to-one consultations with the consultant in a comfortable outpatient setting. The consultants take their time to explain the diagnosis and treatment plan to patients, and subsequent tests can be arranged to suit the patient's schedule.
The service offers non-invasive and invasive tests to diagnose heart conditions. Non-invasive tests include heart tracings, ultrasound studies of the heart, CT scans, MRI scans, and nuclear perfusion scans. Invasive tests involve passing tubes up to the heart to study it in more detail, such as angiography.
If necessary, treatment usually involves personalized medication and lifestyle advice. In some cases, more complex treatments like stents, pacemaker insertion, or surgery may be required. The service is equipped to perform stents and pacemakers, but they will refer patients to experts for other procedures such as ablation for an electrical disorder. If open-heart surgery is needed, the service will refer patients to one of their trusted local surgeons.
