About Mr Niral Karia
Dr Niral Karia is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon practising at Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since 2003. He has a special interest in cataract, retinal and macular surgery, but can treat and manage all types of eye disorders. He provides a general ophthalmic and cataract service in all aspects of retinal and macular disease. Mr Karia can provide treatment for glaucoma, procedures to correct in-turning or out-turning eyelids or droopy eyelids, surgery for retinal and macular problems including macular degeneration, and treatment of retinal vascular occlusion and diabetic eye problems. He underwent medical training at St George's Hospital Medical School in London and received specialist surgical training in ophthalmology at St George's Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital, where he acquired extensive specialist knowledge of the management of all types eye disorder. He also underwent advanced sub-speciality training in the management of retinal, vitreous, and macular disorders at the Oxford Eye Hospital and at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, and at the Oxford Eye Hospital, England. Mr Karia also undertakes charitable eye projects in developing countries around the world. As a highly trained ophthalmic surgeon with over 19 years of consultant experience, Mr Karia continuously strives to update his knowledge and experience so that his patients can benefit from the very best possible care.
