Mr Abdelhamid graduated with honours from Cairo University Medical School in 1998 before completing a research and MSc degree in 2002, followed by a surgical residency training programme at Cairo University Hospital in 2003. He undertook his advanced surgical training in Cairo before relocating to the United Kingdom, where he completed research at the University of Birmingham and trained in general and vascular surgery in London. Mr Abdelhamid worked at St Thomas' Hospital, King's College Hospital, St Mary's Hospital, and Kent & Canterbury Hospital before completing a two-year Endovascular Fellowship in Australia. In 2017, he was appointed as Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at St George's University Hospital.
Mr Abdelhamid is actively interested in research in addition to his clinical work, and he is widely published in vascular surgery journals.
