Dr Mary Sommerlad is a highly experienced and dedicated UK trained Consultant Dermatologist based in London. Her passion lies in empowering people to have healthy and beautiful skin through a holistic, patient-centred approach to dermatological care. Dr Mary completed her medical degree at University College London, where she also obtained a First Class intercalated BSc in Immunology and was awarded the British Society of Immunology Undergraduate Prize. She then went on to undertake rigorous training in Dermatology within the prestigious Royal London and Royal Free rotation, gaining extensive experience in the management of chronic, acute and emergency dermatological conditions, as well as clinical trials.
As a Consultant Dermatologist, Dr Mary has a wide range of interests including Eczema, Acne, Rosacea, Pigmentation problems such as melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, Hyperhidrosis, moles checks, paediatric dermatology, and skin care. She is also experienced in performing a variety of dermatological procedures including skin surgery and steroid injections. Dr Mary is committed to health equity for all, and she works extensively to highlight the dermatological needs of people with skin of colour. She has presented at national and international conferences, and has several publications in leading peer-reviewed academic journals including the British Journal of Dermatology. Dr Mary is passionate about education and engagement, and she has designed and contributed to patient education, nurse education, and GP education programmes. Patients of all ages can benefit from her expertise, as she sees both children and adults in her substantive NHS post.
