About Mr Martyn Evans
Martyn Evans is an experienced consultant general, laparoscopic, and colorectal surgeon in Swansea. He practises at HMT Sancta Maria Hospital and Werndale Hospital. He is also an Associate Professor of Surgery at Swansea University. He treats patients with a variety of abdominal conditions, including hernias, anal conditions, diverticular disease, and inflammatory bowel disease. He is also able to diagnose and manage colorectal cancer. He has a tertiary referral practice for patients with advanced and recurrent pelvic malignancy from all over South Wales. Diseases, Medical Tests and Treatments: • Hernia • Colorectal Surgery • Pilonidal disease surgery • Anal fistula surgery • Haemorrhoid treatment and surgery • Colonoscopy • Ileo-anal pouch formation • Advanced and recurrent rectal cancer Additionally, he is the Editor of BJS (formerly the British Journal of Surgery) and the Chairman of the UK National Bowel Cancer Clinical Project Board He is active in research and has authored in excess of 100 peer-reviewed papers, as well as several surgical book chapters. Martyn completed his undergraduate studies in Southampton, followed by basic and advanced surgical training on the south coast and in Wales. Following this, he pursued a prestigious fellowship in laparoscopic colorectal and advanced pelvic malignancy at the John Goligher Colorectal Unit in Leeds. He joined the NHS as a Consultant Surgeon in Swansea in 2012.
