About Mr Damian Glancy
Mr Damian Glancy is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon with subspecialty expertise in colorectal cancer, benign colorectal disorders, advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, pelvic floor disorders and innovative treatments for haemorrhoids, including Transanal Haemorrhoidal De-arterialisation (THD). He runs a joint pelvic floor clinic alongside uro-gynaecologists Mr M James and Mr P Rahmanou, offering multidisciplinary care for patients with complex pelvic floor conditions. His specialist procedures include sacral nerve stimulation (SNS) for faecal and urinary incontinence, as well as laparoscopic ventral mesh rectopexy for patients with obstructed defaecation syndrome (ODS) or external rectal prolapse. Mr Glancy studied medicine at Bristol University and completed surgical training in the South West Region. He undertook research into the effects of pre-operative radiotherapy on the colon and rectum at Bristol Royal Infirmary, supervised by Mr M Thomas, and was awarded an Enid Linder Royal College of Surgeons Research Fellowship. He gained further subspecialty expertise through an Ethicon Colorectal Laparoscopic Fellowship under Mr U Khot at Morriston Hospital, Swansea, followed by a Pelvic Floor Fellowship under Mr P Durdey at Bristol Royal Infirmary. He was subsequently appointed as a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon, with a clinical practice focused on advanced laparoscopic and pelvic floor surgery.
