About

Ms Shedda practises colorectal surgery at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Royal Women's Hospital. She also holds private consultations at Epworth Hospital, Richmond and Melbourne Private Hospital, Parkville where she has been practising for 14 years.

Her areas of interest are as follows:
Laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery
Hereditary colorectal cancer syndromes
Colonoscopy
Anorectal and pelvic floor disorders
Faecal incontinence

Ms Shedda also specialises in advanced minimally invasive surgery, including VAAFT (Video-Assisted Anal Fistula Treatment) and HAL-RAR (Haemorrhoid Artery Ligation Recto Anal Repair).

Actively involved in research, Ms Shedda has had a number of her articles published in journals. She currently manages a laboratory that evaluates and treats patients with a range of pelvic floor disorders including obstructed defecation, prolapse, and faecal incontinence. Due to the sensitivity of these conditions, Ms Shedda is able to offer a female-only service upon request.

Ms Shedda began her medical career in 1996 when she graduated from the University of Melbourne. She then undertook general surgery training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital before completing a master's degree in public health. She pursued a fellowship in 2008, which enabled her to train in Australia, New Zealand, and the Cleveland Clinic in the United States.

Ms Shedda has a passion for medical education and achieved a graduate diploma in university teaching in 2012. Recently, she has also added law to her repertoire of knowledge and was awarded her Juris Doctor degree in 2021 after studying at RMIT University. Ms Shedda has also spent time at Gizo Hospital as a volunteer surgeon where she spent time teaching and performing surgical procedures.

Ms Shedda is also a member of the Court of Examiners at RACS (Royal Australasian College of Surgeons) and has been appointed as chair of the RACS Victorian State Committee.
