Professor David Lloyd MBE is a world renowned surgeon specialising in laparoscopic key hole surgery. He has done more than 15,000 laparoscopic procedures and teaches other consultants to learn safe keyhole surgery. His particular interests are in gallbladder removal, gallstones, hernia repair and groin pain, particularly Gilmore's groin. He has developed an operation to treat groin pain known as the Lloyd release procedure and as such has operated on thousands of elite athletes including Jamie Vardy, Shane Williams and Michael Carrick.
Professor Lloyd graduated in Medicine in 1980 from the University of London. Since then he has had a highly successful international career, having trained across the UK, USA and Germany, now practicing in the University Hospitals Leicester. He is an expert in key-hole surgery to remove gallstones and the repair of inguinal and groin hernias. He is one of few surgeons performing spleen removal and removal of the adrenal glans - all through keyhole surgery. With his wealth of knowledge and experience, he has attracted patients across the UK and internationally.
