His specific expertise is in rhythm management, cardiac devices (pacemaker/defibrillator/CRT with >1000 implants), heart failure and preventive cardiology (management of traditional risk factors such as hypertension and raised cholesterol).

Dr Patel has a distinguished academic background with a PhD in Medicine (funded by British Heart Foundation), PGC in Clinical Education (with Distinction) and BSE accreditation in Echocardiography (2016 and 2021). He also has international board accreditation in cardiac devices (CCDS). He maintains an active research portfolio with >100 publications and authorship of a book titled 'Cardiology at its Core’ which has been published internationally in 2023. Dr Patel currently sits on the Education Committee for British Cardiovascular Society (BCS) and lectures on cardiac rhythm management nationally and across Europe. He is also a medicolegal expert.
