Mauro Lencioni is a consultant cardiologist and electophysiologist practising in Birmingham. He has a broad experience in various health systems having trained and qualified in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1995. He moved to the UK in 1997, and undertook his cardiology specialisation in electrophysiology. He has trained in large centres within the West Midlands, Manchester and Denmark.
Dr Lencioni is an expert in the treatment of heart rhythm abnormalities including palpitations, supraventricular tachycardia and atrial fibrillation. He adopts a holistic approach to patients with heart disorders and takes time to understand how these disorders disturb his patient's quality of life and wellbeing. The treatment is then tailored to suit patient's needs. Dr Lencioni believes in preventative medicine and addresses cardiovascular risk factors to reduce the risk of stroke and heart attacks. He encourages activity and exercise and is happy to assess the individual that has a background of heart disease and wants to start or return to regular exercise.
Outside of work Mauro enjoys cycling, tennis and running.
