Mr Molloy qualified in 1986 from the University College Cork, Ireland and completed an extensive training scheme at Cork University Hospital. He was accepted to the prestigious Harvard University to research surgical immunology which was the foundation of his Doctorate thesis which he completed at the National University of Ireland in 1993. He moved to the UK to further his career and gain experience before returning to the USA after being appointed as the Advanced Clinical Fellow in Colorectal Surgery at the Cleaveland Clinic in Ohio. It was during this time that Mr Molloy developed his interest in complex colorectal surgery and conditions of the bowel. He returned to the UK and was appointed Consultant in 1997. He is widely published and is heavily involved in medical education as a course faculty member. He is a member of multiple societies including The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and The Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland.
