À propos
Mr. Radu Miha graduated from medical school in 1991 and subsequently spent three years training in clinical endocrinology. He then moved to the UK and obtained a PhD in Endocrine Surgery from Bristol University in 1998. His surgical training in the UK included positions as a Lecturer in Surgery at Bristol University and a Fellow in Endocrine Surgery in Oxford.
In 2007, he was appointed Consultant Endocrine Surgeon at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr. Miha's clinical work focuses on thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal surgery, handling over 250 cases annually. While the majority of his work involves adult operations, Mr. Miha also regularly treats children requiring thyroid or parathyroid surgeries and has a particular interest in familial endocrine diseases, including MEN-1 and MEN-2 syndromes.
In addition to his endocrine work, Mr. Mihai performs elective surgeries for gallstone disease (laparoscopic cholecystectomy) and open hernia repairs.
He is dedicated to postgraduate education and frequently teaches students, postgraduate doctors, and surgical trainees. For the past 16 years, he has served as an examiner for the European Fellowship in Endocrine Surgery.
Mr. Mihai has held leadership roles, including Director of Research in the British Association of Endocrine Surgeons and the European Society of Endocrine Surgeons from 2012 to 2017, and continued in the European Society of Endocrine Surgeons until 2022. He is the immediate past President of the British Society of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons (2021-2024).
With a strong interest in clinical research, Mr. Mihai was named Hunterian Professor of Surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons in 2005.
He co-authored the European guidelines for the treatment of adrenocortical cancer and for the use of neuromonitoring in thyroid surgery.
To date, Mr. Mihai has authored over 160 journal publications with more than 7800 citations, written over 50 book chapters, and delivered over 120 invited presentations at national and international conferences.
