Mr. Hanek earned his primary medical qualification at Charles University, Prague, after which he undertook his basic and advanced training at Prague University Hospital. Upon completion of his training, Mr. Hanek was appointed Lead Bowel Cancer Surgeon. After leading Bowel Cancer Surgery at Prague University Hospital for 12 years, Mr. Hanek came to the UK and was appointed Consultant General & Colorectal Surgeon at the Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust. He also gained fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons and began his private practice at Circle Health Group hospitals: Blackheath hospital, Chelsfield Hospital and Sloane hospital, where he is also able to speak to his patients in Russian, Czech, or Slovakian, in addition to English.

Mr. Hanek has become a member of the Association of Coloproctology and the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons and European Hernia Society.

Mr. Hanek retired from NHS in January 2024, after 21 years and looks after his NHS as well as private patients exclusively in his private practice.

After over 1500 of operations for bowel cancer Mr. Hanek is currently focusing on proctology.
