Miss Faye Barampouti trained to be a doctor at the University of Athens and graduated in 1993. She completed her specialist training in Ophthalmology in 2000 becoming a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a Consultant in 2004. Miss Barampouti has trained in children's ophthalmology at Great Ormond Street Hospital, and last year completed a masters in Health and Medical Education. She is an NHS Consultant at West Hertfordshire Hospital NHS Trust practising at Watford General Hospital & St Albans Hospital. She also practices privately at Spire Bushey Hospital and Spire Harpenden Hospital.
Miss Barampouti's main interests in ophthalmology are cataract surgery with the use of lens implants; children's ophthalmology and the correction of squints for adults and children. She also treats patients with general ophthalmology problems, such as eyelid problems and glaucoma. She has performed over 9,000 cataract operations and more than 1,500 squint surgeries. She has been a college tutor of Ophthalmology for over 10 years and takes an active interest in the education and training of junior doctors.
