About Mr Minak Bhalla
Mr Minak Bhalla is a highly skilled and compassionate Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in glaucoma and cataract surgery. Based at the Royal Free Hospital and Clinica London, he is recognised for his clinical expertise, innovative surgical techniques, and patient-centred approach. Mr Bhalla offers a range of advanced treatments for glaucoma, including the Hydrus Microstent, iStent, PreserFlo MicroShunt, and PAUL Glaucoma Implant. He also provides laser treatments such as selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), laser iridotomy, and cyclodiode therapy, as well as cataract surgery in glaucoma patients, with or without minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) procedures. He completed a two-year Glaucoma Surgical Fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital, where he was the senior lead fellow under the mentorship of world-renowned glaucoma surgeons. During his training in the prestigious North London Ophthalmology Deanery, he was appointed Chief Resident at the Western Eye Hospital and gained extensive experience at leading centres including Moorfields Eye Hospital. Mr Bhalla’s commitment to education and innovation is reflected in his numerous achievements. He has received national awards for his research, contributed chapters to a leading ophthalmology textbook, and co-developed an educational ophthalmology app for resident training. He continues to mentor junior colleagues and support both local and national training programmes, including those preparing for their FRCOphth exams. Passionate about global ophthalmology, Mr Bhalla co-leads the postgraduate programme for the Global Education & Research Organisation (GERSO) and has helped establish a glaucoma surgical training project in West Africa in collaboration with UCL and international partners. His research has been presented at several national and international meetings. Known for his warmth, clear communication, and attention to detail, Mr Bhalla builds strong, trust-based relationships with his patients. He has developed patient information resources to empower individuals in making informed decisions about their care. Beyond his clinical practice, Mr Bhalla actively supports charitable initiatives, having raised over £25,000 for causes in the UK and abroad. He has volunteered at outreach eye camps in Cambodia and continues to support local community projects.
