About
Originally from Northern Ireland, Mr Bonnar graduated with honours from Queen’s University Belfast and completed his specialist ophthalmology training locally. He then undertook advanced fellowship training in glaucoma surgery and advanced cataract surgery at the Université de Montréal in Canada, where he gained expertise in the latest cataract surgery techniques and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), learning from world-leading specialists.
He has published research on improving the safety of glaucoma surgery and continues to contribute to developments in this field.
Whether you need help with cataracts, glaucoma, or both, Mr Bonnar will be delighted to guide you through your treatment options — including premium lens implants that can restore distance, intermediate, and near vision, or minimally invasive glaucoma procedures. His goal is to find the right solution for your vision and your lifestyle, delivered with expertise and care.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
