Dr Rajakariar undertook his medical training at the University of Leicester, graduating with first-class honours in both his BSc and MB ChB. He subsequently completed a PhD at the University of London, focusing on the resolution of inflammation, with a continued research interest in immune-mediated kidney disease.
He completed his postgraduate training in nephrology at Barts Health NHS Trust, where he was later appointed as a consultant. In addition to his clinical work, he is actively involved in research, having served as principal investigator on international studies and published in peer-reviewed medical journals.
Dr Rajakariar is involved in medical education and training, contributing to undergraduate teaching at Queen Mary University of London and supporting the training of junior doctors.
