About

I am David Paling, a consultant neurologist with practices at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Park Hill Hospital.

I am the clinical lead for the internationally renowned MS Centre Sheffield which has been recently featured in BBC Panorama. I am also an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Sheffield, Honorary Strategic Director for the Multiple Sclerosis Academy and the chair of the infrastructure working group of the MS Society.

As well as interests in multiple sclerosis I also specialise in headache and I run a teaching course for local general practitioners on diagnosis and treatments. I am also interested in epilepsy, seizures, dementia, blackouts and Parkinson's disease and I have published peer reviewed articles and chapters on these topics.

In view of my specialist knowledge I look after patients in a very large geograpical area encompassing Doncaster, Sheffield, Leeds, York, Goole, Beverly, Hull, Barnsley, Rotherham, Hathersage, Baslow, Hope, Bakewell, Chesterfield, Pontefract, Wakefield, Retford, Worksop, Lincoln, Scunthorpe, Belton, Epworth, Gainsborough, Mansfield, Rochdale and Manchester

Diseases, Medical Tests and TreatmentsAs part of my practice I see patients with all sorts of neurological problems including headaches, seizures, blackouts, weakness, numbness, tingling, nerve pains, visual problems, bladder problems, balance problems, walking problems, memory and behavioural changes, incoordination and problems with dexterity.

I also see people with complicated symptoms which are hard to put together, and make sure that I take the time discuss all of your concerns and symptoms.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
