About Mr David Butt
Mr David Butt is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. He specialises in shoulder and elbow surgery from minor injuries to complex reconstructions. Mr Butt takes a patient-centric approach to treatment and ensures to involve his patients at all stages of the decision-making process. He uses the latest evidence-based treatments in his practice to ensure the best possible outcome for his patients. Mr Butt's clinical interests include sports injuries, shoulder joint dislocations and instability, fractures, bursitis, elbow arthritis, bicep tendon ruptures, tennis elbow, and ulnar nerve neuropathy (cubital tunnel syndrome). Mr Butt gained his medical qualifications from Guy's King's and St Thomas' London Medical School after first achieving a bachelor's (honours) degree in neuroscience. He also completed a master's degree in orthopaedic science at the University of Brighton during his orthopaedic training and went on to gain a fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, completing two fellowships in complex shoulder and elbow reconstruction - one at Guy's Hospital London and one at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. In 2017, he was awarded the Watanabe Travelling Fellowship which enabled him to visit national centres of excellence for arthroscopic shoulder surgery.
