About
Ashley holds a substantive NHS Consultant post at the world-renowned Peripheral Nerve Injury Unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, and runs a dedicated private practice in London, offering comprehensive care for both adults and children. He also leads a London-based medicolegal practice, providing expert reports and opinion in cases involving upper limb orthopaedics and peripheral nerve injury.
Ashley is actively involved in shaping nationaal care pathways. He is a member of the limb surgery and soft tissue reconstruction of the upper and lower limbs. He has a strong academic background, holding a Master’s degree in Trauma Science (St Bartholomew’s & The London School of Medicine), a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education (University of Dundee), a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Data Science (University of Manchester) and a BA(Hons) and MA in Neuroscience (St John’s College, University of Cambridge).
Ashley is actively involved in shaping national care pathways. He is a member of the NHS Specialised Services Working Group, helping design the national framework for brachial plexus and peripheral nerve surgery. Internationally, he sits on the SICOT Shoulder & Elbow Subcommittee, contributes to education via the British Elbow and Shoulder Society Education Committee, and is the Virtual Education Lead for the Global Nerve Foundation.
Ashley combines clinical excellence with a passion for teaching and research. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers, delivered more than 80 national and international lectures, and received multiple awards for his work. He is an Associate Editor for Shoulder & Elbow, an invited reviewer for Injury Journal, Cureus, and the Journal of Experimental Orthopaedics, and serves as faculty for the King’s Health Partners Executive Fellowship in Surgical Leadership.
He is also a fellowship supervisor for UK and international peripheral nerve surgeons, exam writer for UCL Medical School, interviewer for national orthopaedic training selection, and faculty member on leading FRCS revision courses. Ashley is the founder and director of several national surgical skills training programmes, supporting the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons. Ashley is also a Trustee and Chair of the Clinical Advisory Board of the charity Pain UK.
